Graphene strengthening

It became known in March that the development of the employees of the Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was included in the annual list of patents “100 best inventions of Russia” by Rospatent. These are metal composites based on an aluminum matrix reinforced with graphene, for the study of which former Russian and now British scientists Andrew Geim and Konstantin Novoselov received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010. We talked with the author of the development – the head of the laboratory of chemical power sources of IHTE, the DrSc in Chemistry Ludmila A. Yolshina about an amazing history of the Ural synthesis of graphene and the unique properties of aluminum-graphene composites.1
