The IHTE UB RAS is the only academic institution today that specializes in the field of high temperature physical chemistry and electrochemistry of molten salts and solid state electrolytes.
The IHTE UB RAS has been engaged in fundamental research involving studies aimed at the creation, development, and applications of the theoretical and empirical foundations of the state of art high temperature physical chemistry and electrochemistry of molten and solid state electrolytes; the principles of electrochemical processes for the production and physicochemical analysis of new materials with various applications in corrosive environments and high temperatures; the principles of the electrochemical technologies for metals production and protection; high temperature devices based on molten and solid electrolytes.
Russian Scientific Journal «Rasplavy/Melts»
Russian Scientific Journal «Melts» is devoted to the problems of high temperature physical chemistry and electrochemistry of metallic, oxide and salt melts. It is intended for the publication of the results of theoretical and experimental research on structure, properties, thermodynamics and composition of melts boundaries with solid, liquid and gaseous phases; processes, which take place on these boundaries at fabrication of ferrous, non-ferrous and rare melts; physical and computer modeling of the structure and properties of liquid and amorphous materials.
Russian Scientific Journal «Rasplavy/Melts» is issued six times a year and is included into the list of the leading peer-reviewed Russian scientific journals, issues of the Russian Higher Attestation Commission, which are intended for publishing the results of doctoral and PhD thesis works.
Research areas and practical applications
Novel materials with specific given characteristics for machine and instrument building, electronics, power engineering, healthcare, defence and aerospace industry, chemicals, nuclear, electrical engineering and other industries.
Electrochemical power engineering (primary cells, storage cells, fuel cells, electrolysers for oxygen and hydrogen production, converters for hydrogen production, gas sensors).
Electrochemical method applications for the advanced processing of natural and secondary raw materials including the preparation of nuclear fuels and nuclear waste processing.
Development of novel technologies for ferrous metals production and refining (aluminium, calcium, lithium, lead and other).
SAC «Composition of Compounds»
The Shared Access Center (SAC) «Composition of Compounds» was founded on the base of the Laboratory at the Institute of High Temperature Electrochemistry of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences by the resolution of the UB RAS Presidium № 84 dated 5th of May 1986.
The SAC “Composition of Compounds” makes a cutting edge compound analysis methods available for the IHTE and other Institutes of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The SAC “Composition of Compounds” carries out chemical and elemental, structural and phase analysis, microstructure simulation and research using the stable isotopes.
