April 1, 2017 on the territory of the IEC “Ekaterinburg-EXPO” heldthe football tournament “Cup UB RAS-2017”.6 teams from scientific organizations took part in the tournament: Institute of Electrophysics, Institute of Mining, Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry, Institute of Solid State Chemistry, OJSC «Uralmekhanobr»and Institute of Organic Synthesis.
Competition was carried out by circular system, that is, each team has played one match with all the opponent commands, in total 15 matches for 25 minutes. Matches were held simultaneously on 2 venues, so the participants had no time to be bored.
For the team of our Institute, this was the first tournament after a four-year break, sothe second placetaken by our team can be called a successful performance.
One of the participants shared with us his impressions after the gameseries:
“In general, the atmosphere was friendly; the fighting was within the framework of a healthy sport interest.All teams showed a good level of the game and the desire to beat the opponent in every area of the field. To participate in the tournament was interesting and to take second place was pleasantly.It would be great to organize such a tournament on a regular basis with a systematized judicial evaluation
Here’s how one of the winnerteam members said:
“Our final match with the IHTEteam, I think, was the most difficult, both emotionally (the team of IHTE won all of previous matches), and physically (after 4 matches, even for 20 minutes you get very tired). At the end of the match the score was 1: 1, which means that both teams scored the same number of points for all 5 matches. According to the rules the winner is determinants by the difference between the goals scored and conceded goals of each of the finalists’ teams. But even here the teams scored the same number of points. Then a penalty shootout was appointed, during which the IOS team, albeit with a slight advantage, won the game”.
The team of the Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry, which included Alexander Kataev, AndreyEfremov, Suleiman Diallo, Pavel Pershin, Pavel Tingaev and Vyacheslav Stakhanov, this year, holds an honorable second place.
