Electrochemistry popularization

The popular science magazine N + 1 in cooperation with IHTE UB RAS was published an article on how chemical reactions are used to generate electricity, what is the difference between the main types of modern chemical power sources and what prospects are opened up by electrochemical energy.

In modern life, the chemical power sources are all around us including batteries in flashlights, batteries in mobile phones, hydrogen fuel cells, which are already used in some cars. The rapid development of electrochemical technologies can lead to the fact that in the near future instead of cars with gasoline engines we will be surrounded only by electric vehicles, phones will not be quickly discharged, and each house will have its own fuel-cell power generator. One of the joint programs of the Ural Federal University with the Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (in partnership with which we publish this article is devoted to increasing of the efficiency of electrochemical storage and power generators.
