On June 14, the conference devoted to the unique power plant based on solid oxide fuel cell developed by the Institute of High-Temperature Electrochemistry of the UB RASwas held at the Interfax-Ural press center in Yekaterinburg.
At 2018 “Plant of the electrochemical converters” plans to start production of the power plant, because it confirmed its reliability by trouble-free service life in the gas pipeline for about 10 thousand hours during one and half years.
The scientific advisor of the Institute Yuri Zaikov noted that during the creation of the installation it was possible to achievemore than 90%coefficient of efficiency for equipment operating autonomously, which is higher than the world average. In addition,only products of Russian manufacturerswere used in the production of unit.The device can be used for both anticorrosion protection of the pipeline and as stand-by sources of energy.Now the experimental energy installation of the Ural scientists will be put into production on the basis of «NPO Centrotekh» Ltd. (Sverdlovsk region, Novouralsk). In 2018, the company plans to produce 5-7 prototypes before production can be increased to a few hundred units per year.At the moment, a number of companies, including even cellular operators, demonstrate interest in the development of Ural scientists. In the long term, Rosatom’s enterprise also plans to set up the production of power plants with a capacity of up to 5 kilowatts for houses located far from power grids.
