Last week the Presidium of the Russian academy of sciences (RAS) and the Scientific and technical council of the State atomic energy corporation “Rosatom” held a joint meeting in order to discuss the results and future prospects for the cooperation between the RAS and Rosatom as well as the guidelines of joint scientific, technical, and innovation activities. The result of the joint meeting was signing the cooperation agreement.
- The main guidelines of cooperation in the Agreement are the following:
- • development of laser technologies and accelerators of charged particles
- • creation of modern diagnostic equipment
- • nuclear medicine and radiation therapy
- • controlled thermonuclear synthesis
- • nuclear energy of the future
- • novel materials
- • nuclear fuel cycle and its closure
- • safety of nuclear energy
- • environmental aspects of radioactive waste management
- • modern supercomputers
- • databases, application packages, import-substituting codes
- • X-ray astronomy and nuclear planetology.
