RNF Grants in 2018

According to the results of the second round of competitions within the ambitious Presidential funding program, 503 young scientists under the age of 33 will be awarded with grants worth of 1.5-2 million rubles per year; 313 youth research groups will be awarded with annual funding of 3-5 million rubles. These numbers of awards are higher than in 2017 (504 and 239 respectively).

More than 2,700 research proposals from various regions were submitted for the competitions this year. The quality of each proposal was evaluated by 3 – 5 reviewers based on the scientific merit.

Most of the successful proposals are in physics, chemistry and engineering dealing with research tasks related to the digital technologies, personalized medicine and resource-saving energy in terms of the priorities listed in the Strategy of scientific and technological development of Russia.

The main tasks of this funding program are to offer a long-term funding prospective for leading scientists and early-career researchers in Russia so that they can build their own independent research teams and pursue their best ideas at the frontiers of knowledge.
