Silver wool
The technology for nickel, cobalt, and silver production in the form of fine fibers with high specific surface, low bulk weight, high catalytic activity and chemical purity has been developed.
Metallic and specific surfaces are as follows:
nickel wool…………1600-1800 cm2/g;
cobalt wool………….1400-1700 cm2/g;
silver wool………….1000-1100 cm2/g.
Density: 1-1.5 g/cm3.
The wool can be used to form products of any shape and dimension including catalyzers in the shape of pellets and plates.
Application of fiber metals:
- Electrodes for different high-temperature electrochemical devices;
- Fillers of heat- and current-conductive cements and ceramics;
- Catalysts for several processes of organic synthesis;
- For solutions saturation with silver ions for impartment of antiseptic properties.
