New research methods and modeling of changes in microstructure and parameters of oxygen interphase exchange in cathode materials during life tests

The method based on «cell automat», which allows modeling the degradation process of the LSM—YSZ cathode material up to 3000 hours of experiment (LSM = La0.8Sr0.2MnOδ, YSZ = Zr0.85Y0.15O1.92) has been first proposed basing on the experimental data of life tests (1000 hours) of symmetric LSM—YSZ | YSZ | LSM—YSZ cells. The analysis of the obtained data demonstrates that the diffusion distribution of the LSM phase is the rate denoting process, which leads to the enlarging of the particles of this phase at constant linear size of the sample. In addition the rate of the interphase oxygen exchange decreases and the composite electric conductivity increases. The oxygen diffusion coefficient remains almost unchanged.
